LIGHTING ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND

Gabriel Byrne’s selfless determination to the electrical industry over the last five decades has been recognised with the Overall Achievement Award. Gabriel started his Fantasy Lights company back in 1989 and through his hard work, it is now well-known throughout the island of Ireland as the leading supplier of commercial Christmas lighting. Since the 1980s, the company has been responsible for some of the top Christmas displays in the country, including Henry Street, Grafton Street

Limerick, Cork, Galway, Bandbridge, Carrick-onShannon, Naas, Newbridge, Sligo and many more. Under Gabriel’s leadership, Fantasy Lights has continued to evolve to include ‘Enlighten’ the professional LED division which has pioneered the introduction of architectural LED solutions to the trade and is responsible for the lighting of some of Ireland’s most iconic buildings. This success is showcased in the recent opening of a second, large showroom. However, Gabriel’s success is not confined to business. A legacy of his dedication

to raising industry standards is reflected in the Lighting Association of Ireland, of which Gabriel is the founding Chairman. Set-up to improve standards and education throughout the industry, the  LAI has a strong membership including leading international and independent manufacturers and lighting distributors. The LAI has also developed direct contacts with interested and relevant Government and technical bodies in Ireland and, thanks to Gabriel’s determination, energy and skills, it has quickly become the voice of the lighting industry in Ireland.
